Ressembles H. coronarium, but this species can reach a height up to 3 m. Produces dense spikes with pale pink flowers

Rhizomatous perennials of the ginger family are found naturally inforest edges and moist places. The butterfly shaped flowers are very fragrant. Flowering improves when crowded and left undisturbed. Their cultivation requiements are like those of cannas. Should be planted near the surface.
