Hyacinthoides hispanica ‘Spanish Bluebell’ /100 — Jacinthe d'Espagne.
Ressembles H. non-scripta the well known 'Blue Bell' which is commonly found in the woodlands in northern Europe. H hispanica very well adapted to southern regions where it naturalises freely in non-evergreen woodland conditions. A very reliant plant which will remain in the garden for a long time.
The genus
Very close to the genius Hyacinthus, but the actual bulb is quite different: ressembles a tuber and is renewed every year. Flowers are campanulate and appear generally later than those of Hyacintus. Occurs naturally in woodlands in Spain and North Africa, and makes a good border plant in shaded or half shaded situations.
