Iris iberica

Iris iberica is an iris of the Oncocyclus section, native to the Caucasus Mountains (Armenia, eastern Georgia, western Azerbaijan). Narrow, glaucous, sickle-shaped leaves accompany a short stem bearing a single large flower on a pale ground (white, cream or pale blue), finely veined in mauve, violet or purple-brown, with a characteristic dark blotch on the falls. Flowering occurs in late spring. Hardier than many other Oncocyclus irises, it still needs very free-draining soil, full sun, and a completely dry summer rest.
