Iris bakeriana

Iris bakeriana belongs to the Juno group and grows in the wild on stony hillsides of southern Turkey, northern Iraq and western Iran. It is a tuberous geophyte with a small bulb, producing fine keeled leaves in winter. Its early-appearing flowers have bluish-lilac standards and style arms, while the drooping falls are white, marked at the tip with deep blue blotches and lines. Like most Juno irises, it requires stony, well-drained soil, a sunny position, and a dry summer dormancy after flowering to allow the bulb to ripen properly.
