Iris bicapitata

Iris bicapitata is a species endemic to the Gargano Peninsula in Apulia, Italy, closely related to the bearded irises. Its name ('two-headed') refers to its 30-40 cm stems bearing two scented flowers, usually deep violet but sometimes found in yellow, white, or bicoloured combinations. Rhizomatous like other bearded irises, it grows well in sunny, well-drained soil.
