Iris hybr. Belouini (Maroc

The exact identity of this iris remains uncertain: the name 'Belouini' (or belouinii) is treated as a synonym of Iris x germanica, the tall bearded hybrid iris, forms of which are naturalised or cultivated in Morocco. Like other bearded irises, it is a rhizomatous perennial with grey-green, sword-shaped leaves, producing large, fragrant flowers in spring with three upright petals (standards) and three drooping, bearded petals (falls). It grows well in full sun, in well-drained soil, with the rhizome left exposed at the surface, and a dry summer rest period.
