Iris korolkowii

Native to the mountains of Turkestan, including the Tian Shan, Pamir and Altai ranges, in Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, Iris korolkowii, known as the redvein iris, belongs to section Regelia. Growing 40 to 60 cm tall, it bears long, sword-shaped grey-green leaves and a slender stem with two to three flowers in white, cream, pale green or light purple, finely veined with maroon or dark purple. Grown ornamentally in temperate regions, it requires well-drained soil, a sunny position, and a dry summer dormancy after flowering.
