Iris Pacifiic Coast hybr

The name 'Iris Pacific Coast Hybrids' covers garden hybrids derived from the eleven beardless iris species native to the Pacific coast of the United States (from California to Washington), including Iris douglasiana. Rhizomatous, they form clumps of narrow, evergreen leaves and bear large, flat, richly coloured flowers in spring — white, cream, yellow and the full range of blues and purples, often delicately veined or marbled. Well suited to Mediterranean climates, they need a sunny to part-shaded position, well-drained soil free of stagnant moisture, and tolerate summer drought well.
