Iris winogradowii

Native to the Caucasus mountains of Azerbaijan and Georgia, where it grows locally and rarely in alpine meadows, Iris winogradowii is a bulbous perennial of the Reticulata section, standing 10 to 15 cm tall. In late winter or very early spring it produces a scented, pale primrose-yellow flower with green spots on the falls, up to 6 to 7 cm across. Its 2 to 4 leaves, which emerge after flowering, later lengthen to 30-40 cm. It thrives in well-drained soil and full sun, and tolerates cold winters well while dormant as a bulb.
