Ixia Hollands glorie »

Ixia 'Hollands Glorie' is a garden cultivar of Ixia, a cormous bulbous plant in the iris family, native to South Africa. Like other Ixia, it produces narrow, sword-shaped leaves and a slender, wiry stem bearing a spike of brightly colored, star-shaped flowers, in this classic Dutch selection typically in red to orange tones. Flowering occurs in spring to summer, each spike remaining in bloom for three to six weeks. It grows well in full sun, in well-drained soil, with a dry summer rest period after flowering, when the foliage dies down completely.
