Ixia rapunculoides
A loose spike with blue lilac flowers. Flowers in April well before the other Ixia species. To be grown in pots.
The genus
An interesting wintergrowing genus with a wide variety of colours, many possibilities of use, easy to grow and a fairly good resistance to frost. Corms are flat, narrow leaves with densely crowded flower spikes upto 60cm high. The 3 hybrids proposed are suitable for cutflowers and can be grown in well drained open ground.
