Lapeirousia a general

The exact species of this Lapeirousia was not specified on the original label; the description is therefore given at genus level. Lapeirousia is a genus of cormous Iridaceae endemic to sub-Saharan Africa, with close to a third of its species growing in South African fynbos, particularly in Namaqualand and the northwestern Cape, on sandy or stony soils. The corm is bell-shaped or triangular with a flat base, wrapped in compact fibres. Leaves are flat or narrow and pleated, and the zygomorphic flowers, with a cylindrical tube sometimes markedly elongated, come in white, blue, violet or red, often spotted at the throat. Grow in well-drained soil, in full sun, with dry summer dormancy.
