Endemic to the Cape Peninsula in South Africa (notably Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope), Lapeirousia corymbosa — reclassified since 2015 in the genus Codonorhiza — is a cormous geophyte of fynbos on sandy and rocky outcrops. From an underground corm rises a stem bearing narrow leaves and a corymb-like inflorescence of blue, white-starred flowers with a short floral tube. Spring flowering attracts a wide range of nectar-feeding insects. It requires a sunny position, poor, well-drained soil, and dry summer dormancy, typical of the Cape's Mediterranean-type climate.
