Brodiaea laxa, now reclassified as Triteleia laxa, is a cormous plant native to California, in the Asparagaceae family, known as "Ithuriel's spear." It produces a loose umbel of large, blue-violet, trumpet-shaped flowers atop a slender stem in summer. The foliage dies back before flowering. Adapted to the dry summers of its native habitat, it is grown in well-drained soil, full sun, with a pronounced summer rest after flowering.
