Ledebouria sp3??

This third Ledebouria accession in the collection likewise could not be assigned to a precise species, so only a generic description is given here. The genus, named after the German-Estonian botanist Carl Friedrich von Ledebour, comprises bulbous plants of the subfamily Scilloideae distributed across sub-Saharan Africa, with a few species in India and Madagascar. The bulbs are often partly buried, producing foliage that varies widely in texture and colour, sometimes glossy, sometimes downy, generally patterned with purple markings. The scapes bear loose racemes of small, tubular flowers with six reflexed tepals. Grow in pots or open ground, in well-drained soil, a bright position, with a dry dormancy outside the growing season.
