Lilium Royal Gold

Lilium 'Royal Gold' is a cultivar derived from Lilium regale, selected in Great Britain in the mid-20th century. It retains the slender habit with glaucous stems and the large, flared trumpet flowers, held horizontally, of the wild regal lily, but displays a much richer colouring: a deep golden-yellow throat spreading widely over the inner face of the tepals, shading to creamy white, while the reverse is tinted pink or lilac. Highly scented, it flowers in summer in cool, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, and is perfectly suited to mixed perennial borders.
