Liriope inconnu feuille large

Category photo (no photo of its own for this entry)
As the exact species of this Liriope could not be confirmed, this entry describes the genus in general, particularly its broad-leaved forms such as Liriope muscari. Native to East Asia (China, Japan, Taiwan), this Asparagaceae genus forms dense clumps of arching, glossy dark green strap-like leaves growing from short tuberous roots. In late summer, upright spikes bear tiered clusters of small violet flowers resembling those of Muscari, followed by decorative black berries. A hardy groundcover, it tolerates shade and adapts to a range of well-drained soils.
