Lloydia. ou Gagea serotina? ou graega

The original label is ambiguous between two possible identifications for this small bulbous lily relative: Lloydia serotina (syn. Gagea serotina), the circumboreal alpine/Snowdon lily, and Gagea graeca, an Aegean species. Both are noted here for lack of certainty. Lloydia serotina, an arctic-alpine plant, grows from a bulb seated on a short rootstock, with thread-like basal leaves, bearing in summer one or a few upright white flowers streaked with purple veins, on rocky alpine turf. Gagea graeca, from the Aegean basin to Greece, Cyprus and Israel, is a small geophyte with white, cup-shaped flowers marked with a central purple line, flowering in spring on dry garrigue. Grow in well-drained soil, in a sunny position, with summer dormancy.
