Manfreda

With no precise species given, this plant is offered at the level of the genus Manfreda, a group of succulent plants in the asparagus family (subfamily Agavoideae), now often included within the genus Agave by recent classifications, native to the southern United States, Mexico and Central America. These plants form stemless rosettes of fleshy leaves, often mottled with purple. A tall flowering spike rises from the rosette, bearing fragrant, tubular flowers in whitish, yellowish, greenish or brownish tones depending on species. Drought-adapted, they grow in full sun on very free-draining soil, and lose their foliage in winter in colder regions.
