Moraea sp? ‘Lutea’

The exact species of this Moraea could not be confirmed with certainty; the name Lutea simply indicates yellow flowers, without specifying the species, and the description is therefore given at genus level. Moraea is a very large genus of Iridaceae, with more than 220 species, of which more than 120 are endemic to the Cape Floral Region. Most are cormous plants, winter-growing, with short-lived flowers shaped like a star or miniature iris, often yellow or purple, sometimes boldly marked with contrasting patterns at the centre (peacock eye). Grow in well-drained soil, sunny position, dry summer dormancy.
