Moraea trifida

Moraea trifida is a South African summer-growing species found in the Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, and Mpumalanga. Like other moraeas, it grows from a corm and typically produces a single leaf, rarely longer than the flowering stem. The small flowers are cream to dull yellow, with trilobed inner tepals that give the species its epithet. Native to a summer-rainfall region, the plant grows during the warm season and rests in winter. In cultivation it needs well-drained soil, full sun, watering during the growing season, and a dry winter dormancy.
