Dichelostemma multiflorum, the wild hyacinth, is a bulbous species native to northern California, growing in grassland and open areas up to 1,500 m altitude. Its erect stem bears in spring a dense, globe-shaped umbel of numerous small, bell-shaped purple flowers. It differs from Dichelostemma congestum in having rounded rather than notched anther appendages. Grow in full sun, in well-drained soil, with a dry summer rest; hardy in Mediterranean climates.
