Muscari ‘Baby’s breath’

The cultivar Muscari 'Baby's Breath', derived from Muscari neglectum (starch grape hyacinth), native around the Mediterranean, North Africa and western Asia, is a small bulbous plant with linear, hollow leaves. In spring it bears a dense raceme of small urn-shaped flowers, pale icy blue, opening from lime-green buds and lightly scented. Reaching 15–20 cm tall, it thrives in sun to part shade, in fertile, well-drained soil, and becomes dormant in summer after flowering.
