Narcissus elegans

11/2000: H Koopowitch: We actually found quite a number of populations of N. elegans scattered several leaves and14-16 florets to the umbel in Rabat, to small plants only a few inches tall with single flowers and one leaf, the latter were growing near the summit of a moderate mountain pass on the road between Khemisset to Meknes.. Flowers ranged from those with very narrow spindly and twisted petals to others with nice flat and overlapping petalled flowers.

The genus

Narcissus mainly comes from the mountains in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean region. From the many hybrids and cultivars only a very limited selection is presented. Our choice, determined by their ability to persist in a mediterranean garden, is mainly directed to the botanical species and the tazetta group. As the roots of most species are persistent, Narcissus bulbs benefit of being left undisturbed for several years.
