Narcissus foliosus

Closely related to Narcissus cantabricus, of which it was long treated as a variety, Narcissus foliosus (Amaryllidaceae, section Bulbocodium) is a bulb endemic to the southern Iberian Peninsula. It differs in having a larger bulb with a brown tunic, and above all several rigid, erect, broader leaves per bulb instead of the single leaf of N. cantabricus. In late autumn and winter it produces white, flared petticoat-shaped flowers with a well-developed corona. It requires a sunny position, well-drained soil, and dry summer dormancy, like most early-flowering Mediterranean daffodils.
