Narcissus × odorus 'Plenus', known as the double campernelle, is an old cultivar recorded in Europe since the 16th century, thought to derive from a cross between the jonquil (N. jonquilla) and the trumpet daffodil (N. pseudonarcissus). Its bulb produces narrow, rush-like, grey-green foliage and a stem around 30 cm tall bearing 2 to 3 flowers. From February to April it bears double, golden-yellow, fragrant flowers with a ruffled, rose-like centre. Vigorous and hardy, it forms dense clumps over time. It thrives in fertile, well-drained soil kept moist while growing, in full sun, with dry summer dormancy after flowering.
