Narcissus tazetta Chinese Sacred Lily — Lien Chu lily

Don't let the rather mysterious name deter you from this magnificent cream and yellow narcis. Chinese Sacred Lily' is a synonym of Narcissus tazetta subsp. laticolor.This species is thought to have been carried to China by the silk traders many years ago.
The genus
The original N. tazetta species are found in Italy and South of France. They are typically mediterranean and will only perform well in this climat . As they don't need a cold period and flower ing starts from December onwards until the end of February which is a real asset to brighten up a wintergarden. All these species also do well in pots and can be brought indoor while flowering, where you can even better appreciate their unique fragrance.
