Narcissus tazetta

Native to the Mediterranean basin from Portugal to Turkey and eastward into Central Asia, Narcissus tazetta grows in garrigue, meadows and uncultivated fields. This bulbous perennial has narrow, flat leaves and bears an umbel of 2 to 8 (occasionally up to 20) fragrant flowers, white with a yellow cup, smaller than those of trumpet daffodils. Flowering occurs from late autumn to early spring depending on climate. It requires full sun and well-drained soil, and tolerates the dry Mediterranean-type summer dormancy well.
