Narcissus tazetta(papyraceus)

Narcissus tazetta subsp. papyraceus (now often treated as the species Narcissus papyraceus), the paperwhite narcissus, is native to the western Mediterranean basin: southern France, Italy, Sardinia, the Iberian Peninsula, Morocco and Algeria. A bulbous perennial with strap-shaped leaves, it reaches 30-45 cm and bears, in winter, several pure white flowers with a short cup, clustered in umbels of 3 to 8 per stem and strongly fragrant. Unlike most narcissus, it does not require a cold period to flower, making it easy to force indoors. It needs full sun, well-drained soil and a mild climate, as it has little frost tolerance.
