Allium neapolitanum, or Naples garlic, is a bulbous species native to the Mediterranean basin, valued for its umbels of pure white, lightly scented flowers carried on slender stems in spring. The strap-shaped foliage dies down soon after flowering. Easy to grow and free-flowering, it naturalises readily in dry gardens and open woodland. It needs a sunny to part-shaded position, well-drained soil, and autumn planting to ensure flowering the following spring.
