Nerine humilis

Native to the Cape region of South Africa, from southern Namaqualand (Clanwilliam) to Worcester, Bredasdorp, and Montagu, Nerine humilis grows in rocky, mountainous terrain on loamy to sandy-gravelly soils, in partial shade or sun. This dwarf bulb reaches up to 40 cm tall; its narrow leaves appear together with an umbel of 1-12 flowers ranging from near-white to deep pink, with wavy-margined petals and stamens and styles curving to one side. Flowering occurs in autumn, followed by a summer dormancy during which the foliage dies back completely.
