Nerine laticoma

Native to southern Africa, where it grows from Namibia and Botswana through Limpopo, Gauteng, the Free State and Lesotho, Nerine laticoma is a bulbous geophyte with a large, deep-seated bulb. Each clump bears four to eight strap-shaped leaves up to 30 cm long and 15 mm wide. Between January and March it produces a spherical inflorescence of irregular, short-lived flowers ranging from white to pale pink, followed by papery seed capsules. A summer-growing species, it goes dormant through the cold, dry winter, and should be grown in well-drained soil under full sun.
