Native to high elevations in Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico, Rhynchostele uroskinneri (formerly Odontoglossum uro-skinneri) grows as a lithophyte or terrestrial on rocks, in cool to cold climates. Its ovoid, laterally compressed pseudobulbs bear leathery leaves, and the plant produces, from summer into autumn, numerous fragrant flowers up to 6.5 cm across, with green sepals and petals heavily blotched red-brown and a white to pink lip veined with purple. It requires cool growing conditions, good light and constant humidity, with reduced watering outside the growing season.
