Anemone oronaria

Anemone coronaria (Ranunculaceae), the poppy anemone, is native to the Mediterranean region. This tuberous perennial produces finely dissected foliage and large, solitary flowers in vivid colours — red, blue, purple or white — centred with a dark eye, blooming from spring to summer depending on planting time. It is widely grown as a cut flower. Grow in full sun, in rich, well-drained soil; plant the tubers in autumn or spring depending on climate, and avoid waterlogging during dormancy.
