Oxalis sp unknown

The precise species of this Oxalis could not be confirmed; the description is therefore given at genus level. Oxalis is a large genus with more than 200 bulbous species in South Africa, particularly in the Cape Floral Region. Uniquely among dicotyledons, it forms true underground bulbs or corms, often deeply buried, from which trifoliate, clover-like foliage arises. The funnel-shaped, five-petalled flowers appear in winter and spring, in colours varying by species. It grows in sun to part shade, in well-drained soil, and becomes dormant in summer, kept dry.
