Crocosmia paniculata (Iridaceae), known as Aunt Eliza, is a cormous perennial native to southern Africa (South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini), growing in wet ground along streams and marshes. Its broad, pleated, sword-shaped foliage, to 1 m, is topped in summer by tall, branched stems of 1.2–1.5 m bearing numerous orange to orange-brown, funnel-shaped flowers. It is one of the parent species of the montbretia hybrids. Grow in full sun, in moist soil; hardy, it prefers ground that never fully dries out.
