Ipheion pelegrinans

Category photo (no photo of its own for this entry)
Ipheion peregrinans, of which "pelegrinans" is a spelling variant, is a species name whose real existence remains uncertain: described from a mere drawing, never confirmed by a specimen found in the wild, it is now generally regarded as a synonym of Ipheion uniflorum. The traits attributable to it are therefore those of that species: a small bulb with narrow foliage and a solitary, fragrant star-shaped flower, from white to blue-violet, flowering in late winter and spring. Lacking reliable data specific to this taxon, the description is given at the level of the genus Ipheion, in well-drained, sunny soil.
