Agapanthus inapertus 'Purple Cloud' is a cultivar noted for the deep violet colour, among the darkest in the genus, of its nodding, barely-opening tubular flowers. Tall stems, up to 1 to 1.2 m, bear dense, wide umbels in late summer, highly attractive to pollinators. The deciduous, strap-shaped foliage dies back in autumn. It grows in full sun, in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, needing winter protection in cold climates.
