Rhodophiala chilense

Native to the temperate forests of Chile, Rhodophiala chilensis is a bulbous plant in the Amaryllidaceae, now classed as near threatened in the wild. Stems of 20–40 cm bear an umbel of funnel-shaped flowers, white with a yellow centre, sometimes flushed pink or red on the outer half of the tepals. Flowering occurs in spring. Unlike some other species in the genus, it does not tolerate drought and requires cool, humus-rich, well-drained soil and regular watering, in a sunny position.
