Romulea obscura

Native to the sandy flats of the Western and southern Cape, South Africa, Romulea obscura is a cormous Iridaceae closely related to Romulea rosea, distinguished by its colour and fruit. Growing 10-20 cm tall, it produces yellow to apricot, occasionally red, flowers with dark blotches around a greenish-yellow throat in spring. It requires well-drained sandy soil and a sunny position, with a dry summer rest.
