Romulea setifolia

Endemic to South Africa, Romulea setifolia N.E.Br. grows on sandy flats in the Northern, Eastern and Western Cape provinces, from the Bokkeveld Escarpment to Port Elizabeth and inland into the western Karoo. It is a small cormous plant, stemless or very short-stemmed, with thread-like leaves surrounding yellow to apricot flowers marked with dark, arrow-shaped blotches or lines in the throat. Flowering occurs in the southern-hemisphere spring. Like other Romulea species, it requires well-drained soil, full sun, and a completely dry summer dormancy, the corm remaining at rest until the autumn rains return.
