Romulea sp ?(Dikti-Crete)

The precise species of this Romulea, collected in the Dikti massif of eastern Crete, could not be confirmed; the description is therefore given at genus level. Romulea is a genus of small cormous geophytes from the Mediterranean basin and southern Africa, with fine, rush-like foliage and spring flowers in a crocus-like, flared cup shape, in colours varying by species, often streaked or marked with a basal blotch on the tepals. Cretan Romulea typically grow in a sunny position, in stony, well-drained soil, with dry summer dormancy after seed-set.
