Romulea tabularis

Endemic to South Africa (Northern and Western Cape), Romulea tabularis grows on moist sandy or limestone flats, often around seasonal pools, from Namaqualand to the southern Cape, in a winter-rainfall region. This small iridaceous plant, 5 to 10 cm tall, grows from a corm with a crescent-shaped basal ridge. Flowers, borne in early spring, range from white to pink depending on the population, sometimes sky blue, with pointed tepals. Grow in full sun, in soil kept moist in winter and dry in summer.
