‘Rothschildiana’

Gloriosa superba 'Rothschildiana' is the most widely grown cultivar of the glory lily, a tropical tuberous climber in the Colchicaceae family. Twining stems, clinging with tendrils at the leaf tips, bear spectacular summer flowers with recurved, wavy petals, bright red broadly edged with yellow at the base. It grows in sun, trained on a support, in rich, well-drained soil, needing winter protection outside mild climates; all parts, especially the tuber, are toxic.
