Allium schubertii (Amaryllidaceae) is native to the eastern Mediterranean and Central Asia (Israel, Turkey). It is one of the most spectacular alliums: its explosive, firework-like umbel can reach 30 to 40 cm across, borne on pedicels of very unequal length and studded with small star-shaped pink-mauve flowers in late spring. Grow in full sun in well-drained soil; remarkable when dried.
