Scilla hohenackeri

Native to the Caucasus and northern Iran, around the Caspian region, Scilla hohenackeri (now often reclassified as Fessia hohenackeri) is a bulbous perennial known as the Caspian bluebell. An underground bulb produces a tuft of linear basal leaves, followed by a stem bearing a loose raceme of light blue, star-shaped flowers in spring. It grows well in sun to part shade, in well-drained soil that stays cool during growth, with a dry rest period after flowering.
