Sparaxis sp ?

This entry corresponds to an unconfirmed species of Sparaxis, the harlequin flowers, a genus of some fifteen species all endemic to the Cape Province of South Africa, from Nieuwoudtville in the north to Bredasdorp in the southeast. These winter-growing perennials flower in spring before becoming dormant corms over summer. Their showy flowers, usually with six equal tepals, come in a wide range of colours and patterns depending on species. They grow in clay renosterveld soil or coastal sand, and require a sunny position and well-drained soil.
