Sparaxis ssp 2 ??

The exact species of this Sparaxis could not be confirmed with certainty; the description is therefore given at genus level. Sparaxis, the harlequin flowers, is a genus of Iridaceae with around a dozen species, endemic to the Cape Province of South Africa. They are winter-growing cormous perennials that flower in spring before entering summer dormancy. The flowers, borne in a spike, generally have six tepals of similar size and shape, in a wide range of bright colours, often with a contrasting centre. In the wild they occur on sandy or rocky slopes, or damp sandy and limestone flats. Cultivation requires well-drained soil and full sun.
