Lilium speciosum is a lily native to Japan and southern China, in the Liliaceae family. In late summer it produces large, richly fragrant flowers with recurved white or pink petals covered in papillae and purple spots. The tall, arching stems carry several blooms in a loose cluster. This species prefers cool, well-drained, slightly acidic soil and partial shade, and is one of the principal parents of modern Oriental hybrid lilies.
