Iris spuria is a rhizomatous iris native to Europe and western Asia, the type species of the spuria group, which includes numerous closely related species and subspecies with flowers usually blue-violet marked with white or yellow on the falls. The narrow, upright, fan-shaped foliage stays attractive for much of the season. Flowering occurs in late spring on sturdy stems. It is grown in full sun, in deep, fertile soil kept moist during growth, and is hardy through winter.
